It is the last 3 days of Light Lunches. Enjoy the lighter option this Tues, Wed, Thurs then LL is retired until next year. Worry not if you do not fancy a larger A La Carte option at lunch time. You can still enjoy something smaller by choosing a starter followed by another starter if you prefer. Or the starter/dessert combo is a good one for smaller appetites. The menu above is Tuesday’s menu, it may continue into Wed/Thurs but as ever it may morph, depending on guest numbers throughout the week.

It is no mean feat to still be working in a thriving hospitality business. It feels at times we have survived just about everything the world has thrown at us. Last week the dishwasher packed up, it was only 2 years old- £3.5k to replace. The hidden costs of a hospitality. Last month it was something else needing replaced. It is not surprising that every week there seems to be another great hospitality business hitting the wall.

So sad to see good people, working hard & offering great hospitality, making the difficult decision to call it a day. Fife has already lost two fabulous establishments-The Cellar & next month The Newport is closing its doors, we wish both teams well for the future.

Hopefully we will be here for another 18 years! Although by then we will be 69 so we would hope to be steering our business behind the scenes rather than running about serving & Craig in the kitchen 80 hours a week. I always worry I’m going to end up like Mrs Overall from Acorn Antiques!

If we are to remain sustainable & indeed a viable business we must always be looking to improve all areas of The Wee Restaurant. Some things are obvious to guests, a new carpet, new cocktail list & popular Black Isle beef promotions. Some improvements are less obvious. As I type I am surrounded by banging & drilling. Workmen going back & forth past me. We have taken advantage of the Business Efficiency Grant to add solar panelling to our flat roof. Our energy costs are high with the extraction system, electric heating & fridges etc. The solar panels will probably only cover 15% of our monthly electricity costs but every little helps.

We hosted the first of our 2024 Wee Occasions on Sunday. Lots of regular guests attended who were very appreciative of both quality & quantity of the menu. We have a few more on the horizon, we would love it if you joined us. Some are fully booked but there is still space at The Lobster Creel Lunch and the Wine Tasting Dinner in November.

Next weekend is Easter- we hope you have a lovely time if you are celebrating this annual religious event. If like us it really only extends to eating Easter Eggs for breakfast, enjoy those too! Even although our children are now adults, they still have their requests in for which chocolate eggs they wish. I wonder if I will get one this year. One year I received Easter themed toilet roll from someone instead of an egg, as I was told I was on a diet. I didn’t have the heart to say I had fallen off the diet wagon some time in the past. If the family are reading this- yes I am on a diet fairly often but a Mini Egg Easter Egg would be much appreciated!
